The National Transportation Library (NTL) is a division of the Department of Transportation (DOT) that serves as the central resource for transportation-related information in the United States.

The NTL chose illumen for a total revamp of the NTL framework, built on Samvera, an open-source digital asset management platform, to help manage and disseminate its extensive collection of transportation-related materials.

Samvera enables the NTL to digitize and preserve its collection, and to make it more widely available to researchers, educators, and other interested parties. The NTL's collection includes materials on a wide range of transportation-related topics, including aviation, highways, public transportation, and maritime transportation. In addition to its role as a library, the NTL also provides a variety of other services to support the transportation community, including research support, information management and dissemination, and data management and analysis.

Illumen helps the NTL work with other organizations and agencies to develop and implement policies and standards related to transportation information.
